Fibromyalgia is a complex condition that causes widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and other symptoms that can significantly impact a person’s quality of life. Finding an effective treatment is often challenging.

A recent study, published in the Journal of Personalized Medicine, investigated a new technology called REAC (Radio Electric Asymmetric Conveyer) as a treatment for fibromyalgia.

How Does REAC Technology Work?

Our body has its own “endogenous bioelectrical activity,” which is like an internal electrical communication network. In fibromyalgia, it is believed that this communication network isn’t functioning correctly. REAC technology is designed to interact with this bioelectrical activity and help it reorganize, aiming to restore normal cellular communication and neurological function.

Study Details and Results

The study involved 37 patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia who underwent two types of REAC treatment protocols:

  • Neuro Postural Optimization (NPO): A single session designed to improve posture control and stability.
  • Neuro Psycho Physical Optimization (NPPO): A cycle of 18 sessions aimed at addressing symptoms like chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and fatigue.

To measure the effectiveness of the treatments, various tests were conducted before and after, including motor function tests and the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ).

The study’s results were very positive:

  1. Improved Motor Function: Patients showed significant improvements in mobility, strength, and stability.
  2. Improved Quality of Life: The scores from the FIQ questionnaire improved in a statistically significant way, indicating that patients experienced a reduction in the overall impact of fibromyalgia on their daily lives.

What Does This Mean for Patients?

The findings suggest that REAC neuromodulation treatments could be an effective and safe therapeutic strategy for people with fibromyalgia. As a non-invasive and imperceptible treatment, it offers an alternative or addition to medication, with the potential to reduce the use of painkillers and improve the ability to perform daily activities.
